I loved Broome!

Broome Western Australia

I loved everything about Broome! I want to live there! I want to go back!

I'm not sure whether it's the relaxed atmosphere, the beautiful beaches, the quaint cafes, the normal iced coffee, the beach babes or the surfboard abs on everyone. It could be the history of pearling or the fact it has amazing sunsets over the beach, every night!

I just love it!

It was the second time I have visited Broome, and it didn't let us down. After the hell of Purnululu National Park, reaching Cable Beach car park at 3am and not being able to find a hotel didn't matter. I didn't care! I knew when the sun came up, we would be one of the first people on beautiful Cable Beach.

It was so hot and as soon as the car's air conditioning turned off, I started sweating in an instant. I covered the windows with towels, arranged Princess' camping mat so she could lie between the back seat and the centre console and laid the front two seats all the way back. Happy we were almost horizontal, had pillows, sheets and water, we all went to sleep! Surprisingly, I slept well. It was nearly 9am when we woke to the sound of crashing waves beckoning us out onto the beach for breakfast.

We drove the Patrol down to Northern Cable beach, which happened to be a nudist beach, and the sand was like concrete underneath the nearly bald tyres. (It was definitely time to change them but hoped they would get us home.)

We stopped the Patrol, stretched our legs and dashed down to the beach. We were met with a jellyfish! I was devastated! This is Cable Beach! I was sweaty as. I was in dire need of a shower. I needed a swim!!! Arriving back at the Patrol disheartened, Princess didn't want to get out because she was fixated on playing Minecraft. This was not how I had planned it! I pulled out the awning, sat in our camp chairs and looked at the crystal blue beach and softly crashing waves. If I can't swim in the beach, I'm going to dig my own safe pool right there! So I did!

I enlisted the help of Princess and we dug a decent pool, in the shade, for us all to have breakfast and lay in. It was the best experience I had all trip. The sense of a family goal achieved!

Cable Beach opens up to Gantheaume Bay and the Indian Ocean. As we sat in our own private pool, admiring the nudists confidence, watching the camels and 4wds ride past, and the fit beach babes running easily to the beat of their own pride, I wanted to stay in that moment forever.

Before we knew it, 1pm had arrived and we could check into our Moonlight Bay Suite in Roebuck Bay. I was looking forward to another a swim, shower and a nap!

After having fish and chips and watching the sunset over Cable Beach from Zanders Cafe I was officially dreading going back to reality. How can I extend this holiday? How can I stay here forever?
